Getting Foo points for newsgroup submissions
What is USENET?
Also known as "'newsgroups," the
USENET is the largest of the 3 sections of the internet (the other sections
are 'e-mail' and 'web sites'). There are over 60,000 newsgroups--think
of them as
bulletin boards.
Your ISP (Internet service provider) may not carry every newsgroup.
If there's a newsgroup you want, just contact your ISP and request them to
add it--it doesn't cost you or your ISP anything.
It'd be great if everyone could
access our newsgroups...
A
newsgroup is the best way to post news--much better than email newsletters.
How to do it (and get FOO points)
1. Send an email to your ISP
Do not use free mail (e.g. hotmail
etc.) use the one that came with your ISP account (e.g. earthlink,
etc.)
You have to send the email to 3 places
(all at the same time) :
- Your ISP tech support
- Your ISP customer Service
- Oddhobby Fan Club
Most email programs allow you to send
to multiple addresses--just separate the addresses with a comma--if you are
an earthlink customer your "to: box" would look like this:
